Driven Piles are designed to resist compressive, uplift and lateral loads. Installed using hydraulic and vibratory hammers until reaching embedment depth or a specific soil resistance, Driven Piling provides structural support and earth retention. In Northern Canada and the Southern United States, this foundation type has been widely used in soft, wet or liquid soils to bypass those layers and drive the foundation into solid material. Common materials include timber, pre-cast concrete, steel H-piles, as well as steel sheets and pipe.
